Meditation | Quiet The Mind

There are so many things in life that are beyond our control. However, it is possible to take responsibility for our own states of mind. Knowledge of our states of mind is the real antidote for our sorrows, fear, anxiety, hatred, ego, jealousy and confusion.

Meditation means awareness. It is not an act of doing- it is a state of awareness. It describes the state of consciousness where the mind is free of scattered thoughts. People regard mediation as the mental concentration on something or imagining something which gives us peace or satisfaction. As long as these activities are free from any distraction its mediation. Like watching your breath, listening to birds.

One can meditate while doing work in the middle of the day, or in the morning when the world is silent or can go far away and sit in lotus pose on a mountain. All these methods have only one goal to slow down and eventually stop the ceaseless activities of our mind, you will realize that all the activities of the mind are reduced to one. Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, the Tibetan Lama who has been dubbed " the happiest man in the world".Rinpoche is a master of the art of well being. So how did he get that way? Well, he has done several years of long meditation retreats.
