Body Scrubs And Why You Need Them

Updated: Apr 10, 2020

Beautiful skin begins with exceptional skincare. We clean, exfoliate and moisturize our skin. Facial exfoliation is the key step in everyday care routine. We scrub our face to remove the dead skin and increase the cell turnover which reveals the radiant skins underneath. Everyone one of us even has varieties of face and hair products lined up along the berm-everything from face wash to moisturizing creams. Right? But among all the products, Do you have a good body scrub?

I guess most of the answers will be “No”.

To maintain your skin it's very essential and a must to have a store-bought or homemade body scrub on your shower menu. We do tend to focus only on our face but the rest of our skin is of exact same cells. The sequence of cleansing, exfoliation and massage provides an incredible effect that goes beyond what a bar of soap can do.

Your skin is the largest organ on your body. It protects you from germs and infection. Your skin changes throughout your life, in fact, it will regenerate itself approximately every 27 days.

A body scrub will nudge the process of the renewal of the skin. It will shed the dead cells, revealing the new healthier skin

It will increase the blood flow on the surface of the skin.

It will signal the body to produce more collagen.

It ensures that your skin routine products penetrate properly.

Gets you a smoother skin.

Reduces stress.

It will refresh and detoxify your skin.

Body scrubs works in a few ways. When you hop into the shower and massage it over your body, the exfoliating granules present in the scrub helps to remove the dead skin cells. As you rub it on your skin it boosts the blood circulation and helps you drain the lymph nodes. Most scrubs will have essential oil as one of the ingredients which will moisturize your skin to some whiff. After the deep cleansing in the shower, your moisturizer will be better able to hydrate your skin.

But the most important benefit of body scrubs is how incredible it feels against your skin. The refreshing texture of the skin and the fragrance which will capture you at the moment. You will enjoy the treatment as it's happening. It will make you go into the zone of "shower-meditation" or "home-spa". It will make you feel healthier, supple and will lift your mood right away.

Body scrubs have large granular particles unlike the facial scrubs as our body skin is not as delicate. You can get these Scrubs in stores and online as well.

DIY Body Scrub / Homemade Natural Body Scrub

You can make your own "homemade scrub" with simple ingredients like ground coffee, raw sugar, salt, oatmeal, olive oil and honey. You can add essential oil of your choice which will have the help you relax more in the shower. I usually use a home-made scrub. You can try this homemade scrub.

2 tablespoon Olive oil

3-4 tablespoon coconut oil

1-3 drops of essential oil(lavender/almond/tea tree)

1 cup of ground coffee (or ground oatmeal)

1/2 cup of salt /sugar

Mix all the ingredient and store it in a mason jar or airtight container. Coffee has anti-ageing properties so it's an additional effect. Salt will detoxify your body and the oils added will moisturize your skin at the same time. It will relax your muscles as you will do the circular motion on your body. After scrubbing your body, leave the scrub on your body for 5-10 minutes to absorb the oils present.

If you have a healthy and firm skin you can use a body scrub twice a week. If you have sensitive skin use it only once a week. Be careful and don't over scrub your body. Always moisturize your skin.

Happy scrubbing.
